Two separate groups of White racialists stage White Pride rallies in different parts of Canada.
They rallied on March 24th, 2012 as a commemoration of White Pride Worldwide Day, as well as a White response to the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination which actually occurs on March 21st.
One group of at least 24 rallied in Edmonton, while another group delivered the message in London. Media sources include 660 News, CTV Edmonton, and Global Edmonton (with non-embeddable news video). The CBC and the Edmonton Journal have the most complete stories. A Stormfront thread provides more information and perspective.
In Edmonton, at least 24 racialists led by Blood & Honour rallied downtown. Around 2:00 P.M., as the group marched down Jasper Avenue to Sir Winston Churchill Square where they attempted to hold a rally, they encountered at least 100 anti-racist counterprotesters. Although there was some pushing and shoving, it was only momentary as police quickly interposed themselves between the two groups and the racialists entered the Churchill LRT station. Police the blocked the entrance to the station until the racialists boarded a train, much to the chagrin of the anti-racists. The racialists then went to the provincial legislature where they again attempted to hold their rally, but once again they encountered anti-racists. Police put the racialists on another train, which then went to Southgate Centre.
CTV News spoke to one unidentified Blood & Honour member who explained, "We're not a hate group, we're proud to be white, that's why people misunderstand the whole conception of blood and honour."
The London Free Press initially reported on the London rally, and CanadianFreeSpeech.com and Stormfront have many more details. At least 30 White racialists had intended to stage a rally in front of the London City Hall. However, after they encountered a motley assemblage of anti-fascists, Occupy London goons, some armed with lead pipes and hatchets in an underground parking garage near the intersection of York and Wellington streets, they decided to retire from the scene. The antifa smashed one van window and kicked the window out of another car. Several fights with armed antifascist thugs ended with four of them incapacitated. The police basically ordered the racialists to leave the scene.
Consequently, when 100 anti-racists arrived at City Hall around 4:00 P.M., they had the venue to themselves. Afterwards, longtime Canadian White activist Paul Fromm said that the policing was an outrage, that they were either incompetent or biased. "Those of us celebrating European Pride had the right to assemble peacefully and to hold our rally," Fromm explained. "The police failed to control the antifa goons and, say, force them to the other side of the street so that we could march peacefully. Thuggery and incompetent or lazy policing cancelled our right to freedom of expression."
Before the rally, Fromm published a message in which he said that the Spring Equinox, which for millennia was a sacred day for European people, had been hijacked by the UN and proclaimed to be the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. In response to Canada’s Governor General David Johnson, who urged all Canadians to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination by reaffirming their commitment to fairness and diversity, Fromm proclaimed "We’ll be marking OUR European heritage".
